How to install a Carefree of Colorado Slide-Out Cover

PRINTABLE INSTRUCTIONS

For this installation you need:

1.    Drill with your appropriate attachments for your hardware

2.    A straight pick

3.    Some dry silicone

4.    A couple sturdy ladders

STEP 1 To get started unroll the extra fabric wrapped on the roller tube by turning the roller toward the coach, then lock the roller tube in place using a straight pick to secure the roller tube by aligning the hole on the outside of the tube to the internal spring.

STEP 2 Next remove the set screws that secure the material to the coach on both sides one on each side of the slide topper.

STEP 3 Remove the screw into the roller tube only. On the other side you will remove both screws to remove the endcap entirely, now just lay the entire roller tube on the top of the slide out. Remove the screws that secure the material to the roller tube, these are not necessarily needed to reinstall the new material, these screws are only for shipping the product before they are installed onto coaches.

STEP 4 Now you can pull off that old material and discard it.

STEP 5 The next step is optional and is only needed if your spring tension feels weak, place a pair of vice grips onto the piece coming out of the roller tube, have a helper remove the straight pick while keep ahold of the vice grip. Now add a few rotations against the spring tension, have your helper reinsert the straight pick.

STEP 6 Now use that dry silicone to lubricate the channel on your roller tube for the new material, you’ll also want to do that to the channel on your coach.

It’s now time to install your new Tough Tops material. You’ll slowly feed that on coach side and roller tube side, alternating as you go.

STEP 7 Once you’ve got that new material fully back on it’s time to put the roller tube back into its location and reinstall the endcap. Be sure to secure it with the bottom screw first now secure the tube with the top screw. Don't forget the one on the other side. Remove the straight pick that has been holding your spring tension, reinstall your set screws and you're done!
